What is Kickstarter?

Kickstarter is a place to order products before they are made. It’s launchpad for creators to raise funds for the initial production of their invention. Backers (that’s you!) can support the creator by pre-ordering the product at a discounted price.

Do Limited Vintage phones use WiFi?

No!

They use your home internet via Ethernet cable plugged into your home internet router. Sometimes home internet routers can be in a weird spot like a closet. One solution we’ve used and that works well is to get a WiFi extender with an Ethernet port like Google Mesh

Wiley Home Phone Service: What's the difference between Wiley and Tin Can?

At the end of the day we support anything that helps extend childhood and prevents getting a cell phone too early - props to Tin Can for doing so!

  1. The main difference is Tin Can is trying to build everything around a closed network. That means calls can only go in and out if the call on the Tin Can approved contact calling list. That restricts calling & makes it tricky to call more freely.

By default Wiley home phone service has approved-contact calling on although it can be toggled off while staying safe. We have other measures in place like call history, call blocking, etc that help continue to give safety for kids.

We’re trying to build a home phone service that has broader use cases & gives more autonomy/freedom to a variety of ages - especially as kids grow up. Experts like Jonathan Haidt say to keep cell phones out of kids’ hands until at least 16 years old although ultimately it’s up the parents to decide.

Wiley isn’t just for kids, it’s for the family unit or individuals that want a simpler communication option

  1. Elegant Phone Design: We want to provide a beautiful device that you can proudly display in the hub of your home…that’s where we think home phones should be.

  2. Wiley has a simple lockable screen to see caller ID, view messages, & make changes without needing to use an app or even Wiley’s own portal.

  3. No cell phone apps BUT online portal & simple screen. We thought it made the most sense to have a simple screen where you can make changes without even needing to access any app or even our own web portal we’re building. Yes the Wiley web portal can be accessed via cell phone but we don’t think we should build another app with notifications bringing you back to your phone.

Wiley Home Phone Service: Can you do 3-way calls?

Yes! Up to 3 people can join any call.

Last updated: November 12, 2025 16:07

Does Wiley Home Phone work with satellite internet services like Starlink & Cellular internet services like Verizon Fios?

Yes!

We even tested Wiley Home Phone connected in our friend’s camper van with his Starlink. Maybe we’ll bring car phones back someday.

Last updated: November 12, 2025 16:07

Can you still make calls if you lose internet connection or power?

If your internet or power goes out, your Wiley phone will pause—just like most modern devices—but there are easy ways to stay connected.

You can power your router and Wiley with a small power bank to get back online quickly, or use a backup option like Starlink or a cell-based connection. Internet outages are rare, but it’s nice to know you’ve got options.

Last updated: November 12, 2025 16:07

Can you have more than one home phone in the same house?

Yes! You can have up to two phones in the home under the same home phone number . Both numbers will ring simultaneously.

Your Wiley home phone service fee will not change with an extra phone.

Refunds?

We do not offer refunds or returns on blankets that were received as a Kickstarter reward. Blankets cannot be returned once received.

We’re passionate about creating amazing products and Kickstarter is a way for us to launch our brand. As you’ve read, Kickstarter isn’t a store and rewards are a thanks for supporting the project which is why we cannot offer refunds or returns.

Your pledge means so much and we take it very seriously. We will do anything we can to make sure that this exchange leaves with good vibes for everyone involved.

Backer support is what allows us to grow and design new products. We in turn want to reward you for your support in the form of a gift. We put your funds to work and are passionate about building new and exciting products.

Thank you for your understanding and your support. If your reward doesn’t have value to you, you can:

  1. Give your reward another chance. If the product performs differently than you were expecting, there might be a way to enhance your experience. Reach out to us and we can give you tips on how we’ve found “pro tips” and ways to make great use out of your reward.

  2. Make an excellent gift

If you have questions reach us at [email protected] if you have any questions

What does it mean to back a project? (pledge)

When you back a project, you’re pre-ordering the product. That means you’ll get it once it’s produced. Besides getting the product itself, you’re also joining a community. Follow along the production process, take part in important surveys and give the creator valuable feedback.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
